For the first time in Uzbekistan, Textile Technologies Group has grown organic cotton on the territory of the Chinaz cluster. The new cotton is already available for export to global and European markets.
On October 14, a press tour took place, during which media representatives got acquainted with the work of the cotton-textile cluster of FE LLC Textile Technologies Group on the territory of the Chinaz cluster, as well as with the work of the production of finished products.
The main activity of the company is the production of yarn.
The factory produces various types of yarn, in particular:
- carded ring spinning;
- rowing;
- rotor spinning;
The technological power of the enterprise's equipment makes it possible to obtain 5.4 tons of yarn per year. Basically, the yarn is used for the production of knitted fabrics.
From January to July this year, more than 2.9 tons of yarn were produced, by the end of the year this figure is planned to be increased to 5.2 tons of yarn. Compared to the previous year, productivity increased by 5.5%. At the same time, 40% of the goods produced by the enterprise are exported to foreign countries, such as China, Turkey, Iran, Korea, as well as Russia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan.
As part of the press tour, they got acquainted with the activities of the enterprise in the Chinaz district of the Tashkent region, where 7,000 hectares of land were allocated for the cultivation of raw cotton. Of these, on the basis of a signed contract, 5,700 hectares of land were allocated to farmers in the Chinaz district, as well as 1,300 hectares of land for a cotton-textile cluster.
As Abdulatib Khaldarov, an expert on certification of organic products, told our publication, a lot of work has been done to clean the fields from chemicals and create conditions for growing organic cotton.
“To obtain an organic certificate, a number of conditions must be met. In particular, chemicals over the past two years should not be used in the fields, only organic substances can be used as fertilizers, as well as in the fight against pests and weeds,” Khaldarov said.
According to him, cotton is considered a strategic raw material, the presence of an organic certificate opens up great opportunities in international markets, making it possible to sell fiber 2-3 times more expensive and save significant funds on chemicals.
Clothes for children, bed and underwear, and other products that do not cause allergies are mainly produced from organic cotton. Organic cotton is very different from conventional cotton, as it is grown without the use of chemicals, in accordance with strict biological criteria.
“Of course, we, as pioneers, have to face many difficulties, such as the lack of biological fertilizers, the preparation of compost and humus, etc.,” the expert noted.
The enterprise also plans to use technologies for the complete processing of cotton in eleven steps, from cotton sowing to the production of finished products.
For these purposes, it is planned to build a cotton processing plant, a cottonseed oil plant, a yarn production plant, a clothing production workshop, a fiber dyeing workshop, as well as greenhouses and livestock farms by 2023.
